“We know that nearly 1 in 3 teens will experience an anxiety disorder, which can lead to depression, substance use, and even suicide. Our Poway Unified children are not immune. At a time when schools everywhere are struggling to find more effective ways to provide social and emotional supports for students, the SOLE Effects Adventure program shines brightly. Having seen it in action, I can share that the program defies the immaturity of ninth graders, approaching issues with an intensity and gravity that can only be effective because of the superb relationship our teens develop with their college student mentors. The 1:5 mentor/student ratio enables students to tackle heavy topics, set personal goals, and develop agency. I hope that all our PUSD campuses will soon be able to access this effective student-empowering program.”

SOLE Effects Adventure is a one-of-a-kind youth program. I’ve worked in youth mental health for 20 years, and SOLE Effects is the gold standard. By engaging youth at such a critical time in their lives (9th grade), the program helps youth to build resiliency to support better mental wellness, prevent suicide and to understand the value of their voice as they navigate this world. Thank you for this program!

SOLE Effects Adventure ~ A Multi-Generational Mentoring Program
Transform Your Own Life While Transforming Others’

Our SOLE Effects Adventure program has been carefully crafted to address the issues of students of all backgrounds, beliefs, and affiliations. It is designed for all students with all levels of social and emotional skills. There is no doubt that there are extreme social and emotional needs within all student populations. Every student deserves an opportunity to become the leader they were meant to be, so they can live their life’s purpose.

Students in high-achieving schools are now named an "at risk" group. Last year, a report by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation came to a conclusion when it named the top environmental conditions harming adolescent wellness — among them were poverty, trauma, discrimination and “excessive pressure to excel”, often, but not exclusively, occurring in affluent communities. It may sound counterintuitive, even perverse, to put relatively affluent kids in the same category as our country’s most vulnerable youths. While the stressors are markedly different, researchers are finding that both are “at risk” for elevated levels of chronic stress that can affect health and well-being.
