SOLEFX Journey

A Leadership and Wellness Program

Leadership Guidebook & Eight Student Adventure Maps ~ Nine 1-Hour Lessons

Our SOLEFX Journey, a leadership and wellness program, emerged from eight years of intense research and piloting. Education and health professionals guided hundreds of college-age leaders in its development.

The SOLEFX Journey is designed for all students as we are firm believers that all students can become leaders. Those who already are strong leaders can grow their skills, serving as strong role models to others. Our goal is to empower students to live healthier, more purpose-driven lives while developing stronger leadership skills.

Ten Engaging Digital Presentations ~ College Leaders Present Nine LEARN Videos + One to Prepare Guides to Lead

With clearly-defined objectives, each Adventure (lesson) is designed around experiential learning, providing a systematic approach using easy-to-follow L.E.A.D. steps. These steps include LEARN, ENGAGE, reACT, and DEVELOP.

Students start off with Question Connection right away to track their progress and jot down small successes from previous goals set, gear up for the day’s Adventures, and build stronger, more supportive relationships.

Each Adventure then begins with the LEARN section which includes a ten-minute video where College “Lead Guides” present the information in a relevant, engaging, and motivating way. Next, students ENGAGE in independent self-reflections with varied activities such as questionnaires, inventories, and surveys. The reACT section, led by peer GUIDEs,  brings teams together to discuss their self-reflections. They learn strategies from each other and know they are not alone in their challenges.

Lastly, DEVELOP allows students to create their GPS, where students set Goals, track their Progress, and build upon their Successes. Most importantly, students are provided direction to utilizing their Leadership Compass. This compass is a summary of the skills they learned and how they can navigate continuing to develop healthier habits throughout their lives.

The SOLE Effects adventures (lessons) have provided an insightful and fun experience while leading students towards improved physical, mental, and emotional wellness. I believe that one of the most effective features of the program is that students are asked to reflect upon their own experiences and create goals for progression. I personally enjoy the thought-provoking information and excellent activities that encourage and coach students towards a healthier life.

We’re on Adventure 02, and I’m already seeing my students make true connections. Many have said they’re implementing their action steps (GPS) to spend less time on screens and more time on their passions.

Although many of my Spanish- speaking students are shy, they are finding the material relatable, and share with each other in their groups extremely well, so I applaud your ReAct section of the pamphlet (Adventure).

Last week we learned about being more courageous and how we should do it. I said that I would begin to not care about what others think because that is what is holding me back. Since last week I've tried to be more confident by believing that I don't need anyone's approval, I honestly feel so much better and I think it got rid of a bit of all the stress I have had built up.

During the Sole Effects Journey, the goals that I've set for myself have been working. Although they're not as big as I wanted them to be, it's still progress and I know that I will succeed with time and consistent effort. One of the goals I set for myself was screen time because my screen time has been over 50 hours per week. But what we've been doing in class, I kinda felt forced in a good way to take action for my poor habits. I'm now spending more time drawing and I feel very proud of myself. It's something I've been postponing for like a year because I was so unmotivated to do anything and just wanted to scroll on my phone.

I found it challenging to follow through on my action steps last week. While I did practice being assertive in some situations, there were times when I still found myself agreeing with others even when I had a different opinion. I realized that I have a deeply ingrained fear of conflict and that it will take time and practice to overcome this habit. However, I didn't give up and I kept reminding myself of my goal to stay true to my own beliefs and values.
